There are worse things than steroids or pot for rolemodels to use or do

Over the last couple of years, there have been congressional and media investigations into the use of steroids by professional athletes. Talk to people and ask why they might support such stupidity, and you’ll probably get “because they are role models”. Guess what, I don’t care. It certainly isn’t infringing on any of my rights. Also, why is it that since they play in a professional sport and may be widely known that they can only walk some narrow line? Who is it for congress to tell them that.

Then of course there’s the whole thing of Michael Phelps getting the 3rd degree for smoking pot. Guess what, I have a feeling this isn’t the first time. I’d use him as a case showing that occasional use of marijuana DOESN’T hold you back. It’s not getting off your ass and working out that holds you back.

However, if we are going to hold professional athletes up to some higher standard because they chose a certain career and criticize them for the things they may have done wrong, we should do that to two of the NFL players that were lost at sea. Why? Because they gave up. The first one gave up only after two to four hours after the boat capsized. The next one a couple hours after that.

If you clowns want to criticize pro athletes, these two are the ones to castigate. Bunch of damn quitters, and merely hours after they were put in the situation. Weak. What kind of message is THAT sending to our kids, hmm?
