A Campaign radio ad I heard on the way in to work today had a guy who (though I dislike having to stereotype) sounded like a White, Blue Collar, Gun Toting, Sportsman, Reagan Democrat. Apparently the kind of cat who we can all relate to here in the gun hugging backward state of Michigan. He says “Both Obama and McCain want you to keep your guns” and then goes on to make other liberal Democrat talking points, dismissing entirely the point that Obama wants you to keep your guns.
Be VERY CLEAR Michigan voters. The last thing Obama wants is for you to be comfortably armed. With a legislative majority and control of the white house in Democrat control, no one should expect any of them to sit on their hands while all of the major Democrat policies such as furthering gun control cry out for completion. An Obama Quote:
“I believe the DC gun ban is Constitutional, and will not be overturned.” – Barack Obama”
Pretty much says it all, right? However many democrats including Obama will argue “Communities should be allowed to establish their own standards with regard to gun ownership” suggesting that somehow prohibiting gun ownership that is constitutionally protected in all other parts of the country, is OK in Washington DC. Lest we forget the nature of the constitution, it is designed to protect US, the individuals from government, NOT THE GOVERNMENT, or GOVERNMENTS from us. Continuing, Obama said he believes:
“that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right.” Voted for 2006 amendment prohibiting confiscation of firearms from private citizens, particularly during times of crisis or emergency”
So Michigan, you can keep your guns. For now. As long as you Register your firearms and are prepared to sacrifice them in case of an emergency or in case the Democrats have control of both houses and the presidency.
