Word of the day…

Stupid.  yes..  S.T. OOPID

Most dictionaries agree that it is an Adjective, and that the definitions including “lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull.” or “tediously dull, esp. due to lack of meaning or sense; inane; pointless: a stupid party.,” but only a couple use my favorite description of the word. ( revealed near the end for those who bore easily..)  I’ll just ignore a few of my friends for the moment who insist “when I start name calling, the reading will stop.”  At this point I don’t think it matters.

Though “stupid” has been around for centuries, it was fully vested into our culture when Tom Hanks uttered the words: “My Momma always told me, Stupid is as Stupid does” in the movie Forrest Gump.  How true.  One has to wonder at the way in which government handles one problem by merely substituting two, or three in its place.  The very reason we face the biggest part of the current financial debacle is not in how we have let big corporations become too big to fail, but at least 60% of the government folks think so.

Never mind that it ALL is a result of government misappropriating its legislative authority by forcing issue where there ought to be none.  And NOW..  Consider some upcoming EPA policy directives… ( The Heritage Foundation has.) Because of a majority of the population essentially lacking in “keenness of mind” in this last election cycle by lazily pulling a straight ballot, we will wind up with policy that is obviously (to those who pay attention) “Pointless.”  Consider the following architectural structure as a sincere possibility of becoming a mandate by government given the “lack of common sense” portrayed by persons running the show, and those who put them there.

Yet, My favorite definition of STUPID which aptly fits the voting public is “slow to learn.”  The citizens of this country have generations of history to learn from.  However, unless it is on the pages of the Times, or in a Walt Disney cartoon, it isnt worthy of attention. Certainly enlightenment on a grand scale right?

Our congress prior to the election had the lowest ratings…  ever.  Lower than the president even, yet for all that, they were pretty much elected back in.  Of Course we have all heard the saying “the problem is not my representative or senator..”  Sure..  OK.  Maybe in a couple years I can knock up the rhetoric a little further.  I’ll then celebrate the word “Dumbass.”
