John McCain, its time to retire.
I don’t want to go into all the little ways in which your positions, actions, or legislative measures have undermined the conservative underpinning of the Republican party, but rather I would like to celebrate the hero who sacrificed so much for the sake of our country. You are truly worthy of the greatest respect in ways I could never match. You suffered pains that I would likely not be able to, and you raised a great family and served your country in countless ways.
You’ve done enough. Please take this opportunity to leave politics as a candidate. There is work to be done that requires a new breed of Senator. One who is willing to take political chances to return us to the form of government where the constitution MEANS something. The form of government where the citizens don’t have to constantly worry about persistently changing rules, and compromise that fails our nation.
Further, you are threatening to separate us from a solidly conservative and incredibly powerful advocate of liberty, who, for the sake of loyalty (yes for conservatives it means something) is willing to spend an enormous amount of political capital.
Tea Party activists are rightly outraged by Sarah Palin’s decision to campaign for McCain, whose entrenched incumbency and progressive views are anathema to the movement. At least she has an excuse: She’s caught between a loyalty rock and a partisan hard place. The conservative base has no such obligations – and it is imperative that they get in the game (as they did in Massachusetts) before it’s too late. The movement to restore limited government in Washington has come too far, against all odds, to succumb to McCain Regression Syndrome now.
We respect her decision whatever it may be. She is truly an incredible force to be reckoned with, but truly her loyalty to you will expend much of the influence that is so necessary to rally the troops come November. We need as much in our favor as possible sir.
Senator McCain, you are indeed a true patriot. Please step aside so that we may move forward knowing our force is cohesive in beating back the misguided policies that are all too common in Washington before it is too late.. If it is already not so.
Thank you for your service.
