Four Michigan Legislators Receive Defender of Freedom Honor

Hartland, MI – Four Michigan legislators will be presented with “Defender of Freedom” Awards at the 1st Annual Michigan Freedom Celebration. State Representative Tom McMillin, State Senator Patrick Colbeck, State Senator Joe Hune, and Congressman Justin Amash will be presented with their awards during the August 13th celebration in Hartland.

Representative McMillin represents the 45th House District (Rochester, Rochester Hills area), Senator Colbeck represents the 7th Senate District (Western Wayne County), Senator Hune represents the 22nd Senate District (Livingston, Shiawassee Counties), and Congressman Amash represents Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District (Grand Rapids, West Michigan).

“We wanted to recognize legislators who consistently and reliably defend our freedoms by voting for constitutionally limited government,”

“These four legislators represent the best of the best,” said Nakagiri.

Congressman Amash is one of only 23 House Members to achieve Heritage Action Sentinel status for the 112th Congress based on the organization’s comprehensive legislative scorecard. State legislators McMillin, Colbeck and Hune received rankings among the highest on the Michigan TEA Party Scorecard which is administered by the Independents for Responsible Government. “Their principled consistency is the model to which others should aspire,” said Dick Manasseri, Board Member of the SE Michigan 9.12 TEA Party.
