Another Attempt To Rewrite Michigan’s Constitution By Labor

Citizens Protecting Michigan’s Constitution: Special Interest Attempt to Hijack Constitution will Hurt Seniors, Taxpayers, Families

Coalition of Taxpayers, Job Makers Promise to Stand-Up for Michigan Senior Citizens, Taxpayers, State Constitution.

Lansing, MI—Citizens Protecting Michigan’s Constitution (CPMC), a diverse group of job creators, taxpayers and organizations today pledged to stand-up for taxpayers and Michigan seniors after the latest attempt by narrow special interests to hijack the Michigan constitution for their own personal and financial gain.

“This brazen attempt to hijack Michigan’s constitution would line the pockets of special interests at taxpayers’ expense,” said Rich Studley, President of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.  “Michigan seniors, families and taxpayers deserve better than another special interest power grab that would hurt our seniors by eliminating consumer choices in home health care.

According to a recent report by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, the SEIU has taken in more than $30.4 million since 2006 by skimming dues through the forced unionization of home health care workers.

“This proposal forces residents into unions against their own will while fleecing them to fatten the wallets of special interest groups,” added Chris Fisher, President and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan.

Brad Williams, Vice President of Government Relations for the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce concluded: “Michigan’s Constitution was written to protect families and taxpayers  and it should not be hijacked by special interests.”

Citizens Protecting Michigan’s Constitution is a committee supported by a growing and diverse group of job makers, taxpayers, individuals, local chambers of commerce and other organizations.  CPMC is committed to educating Michigan families about unprecedented attempts to radically overhaul the state’s constitution through as many as fourteen new, misleading ballot initiatives.
