As an “Army” dad and mom, it was a natural fit for my wife and I to become a part of a new “welcome home” group. When we have information about a returning soldier, we will attempt to meet them on arrival back to town. It allows us to meet our heroes face to face, and let them know we truly appreciate their efforts.
I was happy to be a part of a greeting crew who met a soldier who has just returned from 11 months in Iraq. Sgt. Laurel Benghauser has been serving our country since 2004 when she joined at 17 years old.
She seemed happy to be home. So was her family.
Sgt. Laurel Benghauser, in the image to the right with her family.. a VERY HAPPY FAMILY.
We would like to encourage others to reach out and say THANK YOU. and WELCOME HOME in their own communities. It is truly worth it. It was to see the smiles on the Benghauser family faces.
