Campaigning Is Rewarding

As you may already know, I am running for a seat in the First District of Grand Traverse County as County Commissioner.

This last (Father’s Day) weekend I did something i have not done in 20 years. I actually biked for over 20 miles total within two days. I visited registered voters around the district by bicycle, and in the process let them know that there are other choices besides the one which already occupies the seat.

I didn’t think I would enjoy campaigning.  I realize now…  I do.  I really do.

I have really taken to meeting the people of the district, and actually getting positive (and some constructive) feedback.  In a way, I wish I had a few more hours in the day so I could afford the time to do more.  Unfortunately I need to work to keep the doors open to the business as a matter of survival.  The only other drawback is that it cuts into my writing time, but I’ll just have to adjust.

Funny how something that could have seemed like such a chore could actually be so rewarding.  Of course I had to replace the seat of my bike..  and had to nurse my own seat.

Did I mention I rode 20 miles over two days?

OK.. maybe not so easy… but definitely rewarding.
