Michigan Health Care Freedom Initiative Now Collecting Signatures

April 2, 2010
By

MTTM has now added to the top left corner of the page a link to the Michigan Health Care Freedom site, where you can get more information on getting petitions to sign or perhaps participate in the process of amending the state constitution to unequivocally state “we will not be told  by the federal government how to handle our health care!”

The gist of the language essentially:

(1) EVERY PERSON HAS A RIGHT TO PROVIDE FOR HIS OR HER OWN HEALTH CARE.

(2) NO GOVERNMENT ACTION SHALL COMPEL, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ANY PERSON, EMPLOYER, OR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.

(3) NO PERSON OR EMPLOYER SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PAY PENALTIES OR FINES FOR PAYING DIRECTLY FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES. A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PAY PENALTIES OR FINES FOR ACCEPTING DIRECT PAYMENT FROM A PERSON OR EMPLOYER FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES. A HEALTH CARE SYSTEM SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PAY PENALTIES OR FINES FOR PERMITTING A PERSON OR EMPLOYER TO PAY DIRECTLY FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES OR FOR PERMITTING A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER TO ACCEPT DIRECT PAYMENT FROM A PERSON OR EMPLOYER FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES.

(4) NO GOVERNMENT ACTION SHALL DISADVANTAGE A HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FOR PERMITTING A PERSON OR EMPLOYER TO PAY DIRECTLY FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES OR FOR PERMITTING A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER TO ACCEPT DIRECT PAYMENT FROM A PERSON OR EMPLOYER FOR LAWFUL HEALTH CARE SERVICES.

(5) SUBJECT TO REASONABLE AND NECESSARY LAWS AND RULES THAT DO NOT SUBSTANTIALLY LIMIT A PERSON’S OR EMPLOYER’S OPTIONS, THE PURCHASE OR SALE OF HEALTH INSURANCE OR HEALTH COVERAGE IN PRIVATE HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS SHALL NOT BE PROHIBITED BY ANY GOVERNMENT ACTION.

Strangely, one should think of that as common sense.. but in this age of power plays we must reassert those rights given by our creator, and protected by the nations constitution.  Clarity perhaps is what is needed from time to time.

Sadly..  even those who would like to represent us still cannot muster the courage to do so..

Please visit the site, become involved.  In Traverse City, My wife and  I will be assisting in the collection of petitions, and providing an organizational base.

Interesting… ever since I posted Dennis Lennox’s sentencing from from Petokeynews.com I have been unable to post any comments at rightmichigan.com.

More interesting is that the comment in question was removed this topic too…

    http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2010/4/1/13243/02576

    Kinda like this joke here.

Under the deferred prosecution, Lennox will have a four month probationary period to avoid further error, at the end of which the charges will be dismissed. In conjunction with the ruling, Lennox will also be required to serve 25 hours of community service. Postage fees of about $110 incurred to Cheboygan County were previously repaid by Lennox.

The full penalty could have potentially been one year incarceration and a $1,000 fine.

Weasel, go ahead and remove this comment too.

What is really sad, is the deletion of those comments also destroyed a lot of information. It was a disgusting act.

I am working with Nick to get you back online.. I was wondering what had happened to you.. and a few others.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you guys didn’t petition against the Patriot Act. Fact of the matter is no one knows when they are going to get sick or if….or the cost of it. It shouldn’t be left up to the taxpayer to pay for the uninsured. Everyone needs to be covered to avoid this just as all cars need to be insured on the road. It’s just cheaper. Plain and simple.

    • jgillman on April 6, 2010 at 7:07 am

OK.. first of all the Patriot act is not something we were talking about, so you are obviously trying to paint with a wide brush setting yourself up as a morally superior person.. Fine.. if that is a tactic you wish to follow, so be it. But, we won’t go there.

Lets look at the relevant parts of your comments.. You said:

“It shouldn’t be left up to the taxpayer to pay for the uninsured.”

Indeed.. I agree. However given the mechanisms in place to handle medical emergencies it is currently somewhat hard to avoid, and in fact, the forcing of physicians to treat abusers of the system who arrive in high cost emergency rooms raises the bill for all of us anyhow, as the taxpayer funded medicaid does not always pay the total bill. The problem with making it easier, is that there are others who would abuse the system in a like manner, and the abuses would multiply.

      So.. what you then said:

“Everyone needs to be covered to avoid this just as all cars need to be insured on the road. It’s just cheaper. Plain and simple.”

      Is likely wrong.

      But here is the deal…

Your premise, (assuming I have identified it correctly) is that we must all be forced to buy health insurance so that the next guy doesn’t have to pick up the tab when someone gets sick. A morally justifiable position, right?

So you would put a gun to my head, pull back the hammer and “insist” I do the responsible thing.

As for car insurance.. You are wrong. It is NOT cheaper in states where insurance became mandatory. you must not live in Michigan.

Healthcare should not be control by Federal Government, In United States Constitution was meant for limited federal government.
Federal Government is over stepping, into individual states rights. Each states should decide how they want to handle it. States need
to get back to being individual responsible. Michigan create jobs, drill for oil, mining clean coal, and some wind power, solar power,
    and other jobs.

    FREEDOM
