The Detroit News featured that President Bush was amenable to a quick loan for the auto companies as long as no “mandate” strings were attached.
That’s pretty much what I had proposed a week ago:
“The automobile manufacturers need:
1. a restoration of credit availability for consumers
2. a restoration of consumer confidence in the economy
3. a reduction of government mandates and interference in the automotive marketplace
But given that is not going to happen any time soon, the automobile manufactures need working capital….”
I’d drive that car. Assuming it was new and retro, not thirty years old and rusted inside and out.

LOL the WIKI friendly description of the car describes as regarded with “affection.”
The car was a dog. Born of a planned economy. It was not reliable and it smoked.
