The Governor Needs Glasses

After saddling Michigan Businesses with more taxes, and settling the year out with a number of unknowns in the paying of the newest oppressive taxes, governor Granholm discovered there were unspent moneys left in the state’s coffers.

Hundreds of millions of dollars that could have been returned to the real taxpayers in the state for further economic expansion instead went to expand welfare and poorly run schools funding.  The amount set aside for “rainy day” will be spent anyhow as projected revenue will likely be less than currently envisioned, as business struggles to make ends meet with an over regulatory and money hungry government on it’s back.

Michigan will continue to flat line as long as we have liberal spending in Lansing.

Jennie, you give a nice speech. You say “we can agree..” You ARE a very likable person… ..in person.

But you aren’t really good at fiscal policy.  But, as most San Francisco trained types will, you truly believe you are doing the right thing, and if people would just work with you it would all work..  Kumbayah…

Here is a suggestion.  Imagine starting a Doll store, or trying to open a small retail venture, a repair shop, beauty parlor…  After you have done so, consider how much easier it would have been if the government “x” law hadn’t been in place as it was unnecessary.  Or how if Tax “Z” had been a little less, you could have invested a little more in inventory, or in better tools to be more efficient.

It is truly an easy exercise.  It may show you that those of us in business aren’t so evil for wanting to hang on to more of our earnings, or not wanting to double efforts for the same results.  It is called “vision.”  There are some folks who may never have it.  By simply considering the big picture effect of enacted policy and fiscal restraint, it is easy to determine the route taken.

By talking to (not AT) business owners (not just your supporters) in all areas, you could find the better solutions.  By not FEARING the sound policy suggestions made by groups such as the Mackinac center, you could have MOST of your work done already. By being open to the possibility you have erred previously, you could help Michigan regain the incredible losses it has had in your tenure.

At this time however, please have your eyes checked.  It seems you are a little nearsighted.
