Then there is the Joker extraordinaire, the esteemed 30 year veteran villain, who has worked the inmates from the arkham asylum to death. The poor souls who have received the blunt end of reality created by him and others like him will find the blame for their plight placed on the folks who would save them from it.. This guy is good, and the chaos brought about by his deeds have wrecked multiple generations.

Sure… he “brings home the bacon” for Michigan.. Isn’t that what he claims anytime some poor sucker dares to challenge his reign as king criminal of Michigan? Of course the “bacon” is salted heavily with programs that don’t go away, cause heartburn, and bear a heavy cost.

From Cap & Trade to Health Care to appropriate support for our military, these jokers have messed things up so terribly bad the the real “gotham” of Michigan now carries a nearly 50% unemployment rate:

Mayor Dave Bing recently raised eyebrows when he said what many already suspected: that the city’s official unemployment rate was as believable as Santa Claus. In Washington for a jobs forum earlier this month, he estimated it was “closer to 50 percent.”

Imagine that.. Almost 50%

Gotham needs a hero.. right?

Apparently so do some other states.. Michelle Malkin is starting to report that Jokers are appearing elsewhere.

Curiously, logic, reasoning, common sense, or any other admirable trait has escaped from many within the confines of Washington, and along with the senators from Michigan, there are many others who seem to be more happy frolicking with the criminal cabal running the country now than representing the people constitutionally.

Commissioner Gordon.. is that light on yet?

— UPDATE –

HILLBUZZ has more JOKERS!!

The Mackinac Center for public policy has published a series of videos documenting the Canadian health care model. The first in this series below.

Canadians are again and again proven to be the most virtuous of all.. well if you buy the “patience is a virtue” thing..

The second video in the series discusses the benefits of “medical vacations” where when waiting is just NOT an option, Canadians take their economies on the road and head to “non-socialized” places such as the United States.

The Third Video discusses how its the QUANTITY, not the QUALITY of care that moves doctors in Canada..

The Mackinac center has promised a number of other Videos in this series, but the time is NOW to contact our legislators.

Any move that brings us closer to the raging failure that socialized medicine has brought about in more “progressive” countries should be fought tooth and nail. I have personally sent a One word mail to Stabenow recently that sums up whether or not we need to be fiddling with a process that is both incredibly personal, and highly susceptible to damage by government interference.

We did it. We held a Town Hall in Traverse City. We were able to organize this inside of ONE WEEK, and two VENUE CHANGES, and still had 200 PEOPLE show up. Congress? Are you listening? You are in deep trouble, as these folks are looking for a way to be heard. And since you weren’t providing that means.. we gave it to them with a forum to discuss the concerns, fears, and outrage they have with “the way things are going..”

Of course, A phone call from a local news outlet to one of the guest speakers, Ken Braun from the Mackinac Center just prior to the start of the Traverse City “Your Voice” Town Hall confirmed that because there would be no “politician” at the event, there would also be no news coverage for the event which had the most important speakers of all… The citizens.

The local TV station I suppose, has its priorities, a knitting party for cat wear will trump a real grass roots event EVERY TIME. In all fairness, the TV Stations have had to cut their budgets just like the many citizens, and driving to an event such as this may use some of the generator fuel they have left. Budgets are a funny thing.. Apparently government is the only entity that doesn’t have to consider coloring its budgets inside the lines. But I digress..

It wasn’t the absence of the news that was troubling, but rather the absence of our elected officials which was the reasoning for the news to ignore the 200 person crowd. While the recess continues, there are few opportunities for the elected representation to come together with the people they purport to represent. This was one of those opportunities. And though we had even confirmed a “subordinate” from our local congressman Dave Camp’s office, it was two days before the event, he decided to find “better things to do.”

This is a partial shot of the folks who turned out Aug 13, at 7pm for the Traverse City Town Hall Event In this photo, Ray Pleva, one of the guest speakers discusses some of the nutraceutical products he is currently working on.

Ray Pleva Speaking on the benefits of his nutraceutical cherry products

The media is missing the point with the disagreements in town halls. These people are hardly tools of any special interest, as they are merely confused as to why our government is trying to push forward a health care plan that is rife with untenable language and consequence. Maybe the news folks hope to find contentious behavior only, and with a politician handy to yell at, it certainly could happen. And maybe THAT sells advertising.

But the fact that there is not a Stabenow, Levin, Camp, or Stupak (though Traverse city outside his district) present where such things are being discussed should not go un-noticed. Even given the short notice of the event, it would have been enough for any of them to have their own events in our region or somewhere that the constituents could have reached them. I suppose however, that if they had such events planned on their own, it would follow a protocol such as this:

No shouting. Congressional representatives cannot sell Obamacare with mobs of unruly senior citizens and small business owners interrupting to press them on specific sections of the bill. Limit your objections to a library whisper (30dB or less) and only challenge your lawmakers with hushed, dulcet tones. Otherwise, you will scare them and they will be forced to hide behind teleconference calls, sick children at hospitals, or union bosses.

Yeah.. that’s the ticket.

But you know what? We got things done. People learned things. We conversed. A couple of Doctors spoke, and even Madonna’s Dad weighed in let us all know he wanted government to back off. And now, more letters are being written today, yet our representatives are sleeping it off still at the resort of their choice during their “well earned vacations”

Whatever.

As an aside.. This “Your Voice” Town hall format was new and untried. It was HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL, and I would encourage those who wish to put on their own to contact me for the format design, which allows for REAL conversation with your neighbors. Also, I will be working over the weekend to put together the video we have, and will have an audio track available that spans the entire Town Hall ready hopefully later today. – J

Goliath effort made by Jack Hoogendyk, the Michigan Republican Party decided its resources were better used for the state representative races, many of which were lost anyhow. Decisions were made, and likely the outcome of Hoogendyk v. Levin wouldn’t have been different but for the resulting point spread.

The National stage, and the pull out of McCain resources helped to stress an already formidable task of delivering the Republican message. And as many opt for a “straight ticket,” the coat tail landslide was inevitable due to the hard slant of media and event driven politics.

Republicans were going to lose. Partly because of the “phenomenon of frenzy” driven by the possibility of a new era of equality, but also in part by the loss of a message by Republicans seeking to lead us. John McCain had an opportunity to help ALL the republican candidates simply by adhering to principle. A simple NO vote on the bailout package. the very package that an estimated 80% of the citizenry KNEW to be a poor use of the government, and ultimately the taxpayer’s money. He could have separated himself, and led the other Republicans by demonstrating true leadership.

If the people have a choice of socialist Republicans, and Democrat socialism… they will elect the PROS to do it.. and they did.

Saul Anuzis is better suited for the national stage. I support his decision to seek the RNC chairmanship. He is as Technologically able as ANY who vie for the position, and his ability to use the media 2.0 to deliver the message is on track. This would serve the National Committee well, to help other STATE parties get up to speed, and as he said yesterday on a conference call “to rebuild from the ground up in areas which have little or no party structure.” From a technical, and growth of party aspect, he is the logical choice.

In Michigan, we have an entirely different issue however. After so many years of left leaning control, there should be little doubt as to what the causes of our despair might be. However, THAT message did not surface as it should have. So in yet another failure both from the leadership in Michigan, to the compromise of principle by our presidential, and other candidates, the message was diluted, and people were left STILL thinking the entire problem lay at George Bush’s feet, instead of the failed social gerrymandering policies of the Michigan legislature and our Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Some might argue the crushing defeat Jack Hoogendyk was dealt does not lend to him credibility of the leadership necessary to bring the party back to its feet. However, given the complete absence of support by the state party, a 20 to 1 funding advantage by Levin, and the Incumbency of said senator, it was inevitable as a hairball’s failure to advance in the 100 MPH winds of Change. This is not an excuse but merely an explanation.

Jack Hoogendyk is likely the most principled man in Michigan Politics today. It would be an honor to see him serve as chair of the Michigan Republican party. His foundation of core principles underlies the strength of the Republican and conservative message. His historical lack of deviating from traditional values sets a standard that all Republicans statewide should seek.

Consider this an Endorsement.

While keeping it simple, I would like to look at the proposals first.

Proposal One, allowing medicinal use of Marijuana. While I support it’s passage as a means to advance dialog in lessening government intrusion with regard to personal responsibility issues, I also understand there are folks who object to it based on “societal consequence.” The fear it will lead to unintended costs through higher health care costs and drug related “accidents.” My answer to that is to suggest a more aggressive role in reducing government “fail safes” for the type of behavior the opponents of this proposal fear.

Proposal Two, essentially allowing unlimited emryonic research. Pretty much my objection to it in those words: “Unlimited Ebryonic Research.” A line in the actual ballot language specifically asks voters to approve ANY FUTURE RESEARCH unencumbered by restrictions place upon them by government. A little too open ended if you ask me. Add to this the increasing disregard for human life which continues to drive vicious killings, and gang related activities. It DOES make a difference. Also, the line which restricts laws to control this activity opens the doors for TAXPAYER funding of the activity. BAD LAW in my opinion.

Now the people races..

State Rep races, have been heating up. And contrary to what you would think is common sense, it seems the Democrats have been making inroads into what would normally be seen as safe republican areas. The reason I tout as contrary to what is right, is because the Democrats, with the enabler in the governor’s mansion. They KILLED the auto industry along with the help of our national congress. For 6 years under the leadership of Democrats in the house and our failure of our governor Granholm to understand basic cause and effect Michigan has been spearheading the recession the country now faces. While we have a final bulwark in the senate, we found out last year that even that isn’t enough when the threat of shut down was laughed off by Democrats refusing to budge, and passing higher taxes for ALL of us.

US Senate and House of Representatives… OK Michigan, how bad do you want to stick it to the rest of the country? We can finish them off by giving the Nancy Pelosi’s, the Harry Reid’s and the possible “Imperial Leader in Chief” Barack Obama free reign unfettered with what we want later, and deliver more Michigan style governance into the national scene. Surely you want the rest of the country to feel our pain.. to understand what we have been going through, and then some right?

No I didnt think so.

Bottom line is this: If we deliver for example, Senator Levin back into power, we give the go ahead for whatever mechanisms the Left majority can dream up for at least 2 years. If you think private balloting in your Union is important you dont want these guys. If you ever want to start your own business, these arent your people. If you don’t feel like carrying the water for folks who decide NOT to work, then consider voting for ANY Democrat at a national level a MAJOR mistake. As for complaining later? May not happen. It has been said that the “fairness doctrine” is a priority for a House, Senate, and Executive office controlled by the Democrats.

The President. The man who can stop the most insane of laws from affecting your life short of an override by congress. Next to the last best check, stop, or limiter of an already over reaching congress. And though there is still the Supreme Court, the wrong person as executive office holder alongside a willing senate can have chilling results when it comes to the selection of a Justice. Consider this.. Jennifer Granholm is a relatively young lawyer.. She has done a wonderful job running Michigan (choke) right? Given that she has NO political career beyond 2010, what office do YOU think she would like to have, given the opportunity? And if Michigan sends its electoral go ahead to “the One,” she will have done enough to earn it.

To my Michigan family, consider this a plea for common sense. We have failed BECAUSE of the liberal policies in Lansing, because of the refusal to deliver responsibility for the failures to the proper causes. If we further enable those who take increasing amounts from our wallets, design policies which raise our energy costs, and create environments which discourage growth, then we ALL will suffer. I could embellish the reasoning behind some of the above words, but I must insist your own thoughts if followed logically, will bring you to the same conclusions.

Its all about what we want. About what is best. Please pass this message along.. before it is too late.

Sunday morning I will be doing canvassing in my neighborhood to make sure as many as possible know to watch. If you can make it to your local victory centers they should have the Hoogendyk for US Senate fliers on hand. It only takes a few folks in the right neighborhoods to make all the difference this silly season, and our guy Jack can begin to be a part of fixing the problem in our nation’s capital.

Consider the situation at hand.. a couple of weeks to go, Obama has pulled from the state as “already won,” and is moving on to put resources in other battleground states. This is a good thing for the Hoogendyk Senate campaign, and allows it to leverage by placing focus on the legislative agenda of the US Senate and US House. The Levin campaign been sending the following:

“a President Obama and a Vice President Biden will need the help of Congress to carry out their mandate for change.

Democrats in the Senate have a real opportunity to increase the narrow 51-49 majority we have now and close in on the 60 Democratic Senators that we need to enact the new President’s agenda and overcome the Republican filibusters that have thwarted so much critical legislation in this past Congress.

That is why I am making this urgent and personal plea for you to click here to contribute to support the following six Democratic Senate candidates: Mark Begich in Alaska. Mark Udall in Colorado. Ronnie Musgrove in Mississippi. Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire. Kay Hagan in North Carolina. Jeff Merkley in Oregon.”

So assuredly confident of his win in Michigan Levin openly calls for unchecked power in Washington. Unchecked power, given to those who have created, and continue to create the very problems that still persist as an economic cancer on the world financial markets.

Take an hour or two, and go MEET your neighbors. Find out who they are. Get them the message. Michigan can be a part of the solution, and no matter who wins the presidency, maybe Michigan can help to keep bad law off the president’s desk.
