Seriously Condescending Upton Man

A Seriously Condescending Upton Man blows off a constituent with a smarmy poke back.  From the “don’t want to make this stuff up” category.  When might you expect to get a smart ass response like the following?:

Fax Communications

Good afternoon, Mr. Selker

In an effort to reduce cost to taxpayers, please consider directing your future communications to my email address. Our fully-loaded cost per fax page received is 2.2 cents. Given your sensitivity to federal expenditures and desire for cost-cutting, I’m hopeful you can utilize this option. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

Ed Sackley | District Director | Congressman Fred Upton (MI-06)

Hopefully NEVER?

It seems Mr. Selker must have been faxing over the bible, or perhaps Atlas shrugged, or War & Peace, or something equally capacious, to warrant THAT response.

Oh my.

Fortunately, the undaunted constituent never lets a small thing like a supercilious Functionary spoil the day however.  Mr Selker’s reply to that?

Mr. Sackley,

I consider my fax communications to be an investment and not an expenditure.

If Congressman Upton were truly concerned with cutting costs, reducing the  size of government, and protecting the freedom of the American people, he would not have voted for the sham budget deal which just passed nor authored the now infamous “light bulb law.”

The very fact that a government employee has to walk over to the fax machine, retrieve my communication, and then throw it in the garbage gives me a certain amount of satisfaction–at least until 2012, when once again the American People will speak and reinforce the brave 59 who just yesterday stood up to the republican leaderlessship.

And that’s my 2.2 cents worth!

Michael J. Selker

Perhaps worth a little more than his response Michael?

C’mon Sackly, I was just getting to appreciate Fred moving to the right a little, and you went and indicated the elitist attitude of those elected too long must surely be contagious.

You can do better.  An apology is warranted.  And maybe you could fax it back.  It would be worth the 2.2 cents to Mr Selker.
