I have been in Detroit all of my life. I am currently a junior at Wayne State University. I love Detroit not only because it is my home, but because it has played an important role in the economy of Michigan and the country. People supported Detroit when times were good and now it is time for people to step up and support Detroit now that times are bad. People can leave and/or ignore Detroit if they like, but when there are people like myself, willing to stay and fight for Detroit economically, politically, and socially, there is always room for opportunity.

Detroit is a money pit. It has no reason to exist anymore. It is a ghost city. It only manufactures losses, losers, and pubic and private pathologies. Wasting resources on Detroit is taking those resources from young, growing, productive cities and citizens. It is financial seed corn eating.

As a huge advocate of Detroit and Detroit growth... it's unfortunate but real that for Detroit to grow - for Detroit to prosper - Detroit needs the help and support from everyone outside of Detroit! It's been shown for years that Detroit is it's own worst enemy so this article proves my theory in itself that Detroit needs help and support from everyone and everything outside of Detroit to get to a status of respect. This is going to be a huge step forward in doing that - Great to hear!
