jgillman, If You are a Welfare Recipient, You are going to vote for the Hand that feeds you. Originally Only landowners could Vote. Which made good sense. Social Securtity is going to Bankrupt Our nation, but we cant change any of the policies that govern social security.
The fact is, this is Part of the reason why democracies fail.
If everyone’s voice counts thats what You have.
Our government is Socialist now and capitalism is fading. Do you really think these groups who benefit from socialism are going to welcome Capitalism back. You would have to take power from the government.
Around the world currently, and from history we see War is the only way this can happen. Liberals dont see this. ( well liberal leaders do, but not there followers). The only thing any conservative can do is “slow” our slide in to More government control. Its easy for liberals, as this is the natural order of things. that is to grow government.

Shepherd, I would have to stop short of limiting anyone’s ability to select who best represents them.

Our best course of action is to demonstrate the damage particular policies and actions have on our society so that the “self serving” interest then suits all of us.

Yes I agree that government workers should not be able to unionize against the government. Afterall if the if the government was actually
“of the people” We should have a vote to whether it is constitutional for our leaders to enter into a labor agreement.

I step even further to the right to suggest based on the US constituion
that not all have the right to vote. In this particular I think that anybody whos income is largely from the taxpayer that voting for those individuals
should be limited. conflict of interes. Our founders never suggested everyone had a right to vote. As long as there is a large welfare block,
a large civil service block, Michigan will never revive.
Maybe Michigan’s time is up.

I think the trunk analogy is apt. I can’t believe you haven’t received negative feedback on actually doing something that might help the taxpayer and send the message that Michigan is no longer a prison state. It’s early yet so I’m sure we’ll here some original analogy about how would you feel if “they (parolees) were living in your neighborhood?”

Regarding those public and school employee unions riding shotgun -

Unfortunately the shotgun is pointed at the head of the driver (the Gov and legislature), and a round is jacked into the chamber any time any of them make a little noise about things like pension and health insurance reform.

Not that the current drivers are likely to do anything on that front anyway, but future ones might, and they’ll have to figure out how to neutralize that shotgun. California’s Governator failed to accomplish that, and that’s when his governership became a failure, too.
